Medical Nutrition Therapy: A Case-Study Approach
This casebook presents a unique approach to bridge the classroom to real clinical practice. It is composed of 32 realistic case studies applicable to introductory and advanced level nutrition and diet therapy courses. Each case uses medical records as its foundation, allowing the reader to analyze hospital admission data, laboratory test results, intake/output records, physician progress notes, and other health care provider information; this replicates an authentic professional setting. In addition, the included questions for each case are designed to strengthen pathophysiology knowledge, assess different outcomes, implement interventions, and plan follow up for patients. With this “real world” learning opportunity, students can develop key skills as they embark on their professional healthcare journey.
